Know the house before you buy it

The home inspectors we send clients to, starting with Stripe Signature Home Inspections: ASHI-trained, with drone roof inspections, thermal imaging and a detailed photo report.

An independent inspection before you commit tells you what the photographs cannot: the roof, the wiring, the water. These are the inspectors we send clients to.

Stripe Signature Home Inspections

Owner Alex Stripe is a graduate of the ASHI School (American Society of Home Inspectors). He started his inspection company in Denver in 2015, after inspecting storm-damaged homes as a property adjuster, and opened in Costa Rica after moving here in 2021.

What they inspect

  • Structure, roofing, exterior, grading and foundation
  • Plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning
  • Doors, windows, insulation, attics, crawl spaces and fireplaces
  • Drone inspection of roofs, gutters and large properties
  • Thermal imaging for hidden moisture, electrical hot spots and missing insulation
  • Sewer scopes, arranged through a third party

The report comes by email with photos and illustrations. They post sample reports on their site.

Their site names the Central Valley and the areas around San José as where they work, so ask whether they cover the property you are buying.
